Waterfront Positions

Launch Operators

Our boating season runs from May through mid-October. Full-time and part-time positions are available. Responsibilities include providing safe transportation to and from members’ moored vessels using the Club’s launches. Cleaning boats, fueling, assisting with tie-ups, assisting with  boarding, etc. are also part of the responsibilities. Rate of pay is $15-$18/hr plus reimbursement for certification over a 3-year period. Line Cook Position

We are looking for professional Line Cooks to join our team. Enjoy working at a beautiful and relaxed venue that is focused on serving exceptional New England cuisine. We thrive on farm-to-table cuisine in an environment that gives you the freedom to be creative and the opportunity to refine your skills as a chef. We work hard as a team, with positive, can-do attitudes.

Whether this is your first position in the kitchen or a seasoned line cook looking for a change, Portland Yacht Club, a members-only club, is the place to grow your skills. While experience is great to have, we are more than willing to train hard, committed workers.

As a line cook at Portland Yacht Club, you’ll have the opportunity to work our lunch and dinner shifts, as well as work as part of our events team, helping us with weddings, showers, club events, and more.

Our season runs from early May- September. With occasional off-season functions.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: $17 to $20/hour

Junior Program Coaches
The Portland Yacht Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program is seeking Instructors who are both passionate about sailing and teaching younger sailors the skills necessary to be safe, comfortable, and competent sailors. Our program offers instruction for beginners through advanced sailors.  There are positions available for adventure, race and non-race classes.  Our fleet of over 50 boats includes Optis, 420s, J24, Elliot 6m and Colgate 26. Our instructors must be responsible, dependable and maintain the highest level of safety awareness and professionalism within our program. Instructors are invited to participate in local J24, Etchells and PHRF racing as well as weekly dinghy racing.
Our program involves over 100 students,10-12 staff members, 2-3 apprentice instructors and assorted volunteers.
Competitive salaries offered commensurate with experience and certifications.
Minimum: 17 years old.
Minimum: current US SAILING CERTIFICATION, Level One,
Current First Aid/CPR Certification
Follow established curriculum and lesson plans with ability to add in own style and flair
Ability to work with a wide range of student ages, aptitudes, abilities, maturity and music preferences
Experience in racing, race committee and regatta operation preferred but not necessary
