Have you ever had to abandon ship? Live 76 days at Sea? Deployed a life raft? Do you have a ditch bag? What about that medical kit? Have you updated it recently? Do you really know how to use your VHF in an emergency or know what to do in the event of an evacuation?
: Author of “Adrift: 76 days lost at sea”. Steve will discuss his experience while at sea for 76 days in his life raft and speak about practical issues when one has to abandon ship. If you haven’t read this book, pick one up before this seminar and read it!
: President of Landfall Navigation: Henry will be demonstrating the actual deployment of a life raft and discuss what essential safety equipment is needed for the Coastal boater or the passage making boater.
The USCG will discuss proper use of flares, VHF communication in emergencies and what to do when an evacuation is necessary.
Dr. Adams has had extensive experiences on the water and has participated in many offshore races. Dr. Adams also has assisted with the preparation of many medical kits for sailors preparing for passage making and will discuss the necessities needed for your medical kit as well as your ditch bag.
Continental Breakfast and Box Lunch will be provided.
Due to the hands on nature of this course, a portion of the course will be held outside. Please dress appropriately as weather dictates.
